FAQ’s

See our Frequently Asked Questions below. Please email us at info@mydogsgotclass.com for additional questions and information.

Q: Does my dog need to be evaluated to attend a class?
A: No, dogs do not need to be evaluated to attend our group classes.  We only require evaluations for dogs wanting to attend our Mind Your Manners drop off program if we have no history with your dog.  Young puppies do not need to be evaluated to attend our Puppy Prep School program.

Q:  What vaccines are required?
A:  We require age appropriate vaccines.  For young puppies we need proof of at least the first Distemper/Parvo vaccine.  For dogs over 6 months of age we also require proof of Rabies.  We accept documentation from breeders and veterinarians (history reports, receipts), as well as titer reports.

Q: Can I pay for class the day it starts?
A: No, we require payment for the group class at the time of registration to reserve your spot.

Q:  I don’t have PayPal, how can I pay for classes / day programs?
A:  We can accept payment via Venmo, Zelle, cash/check dropped off at the school or we can send an electronic invoice that can be paid with any major credit card upon request.  Please contact us via email for the specific payment information.

Q:  I need to cancel my registration, how do I do that?
A:  Cancellations for group classes must be done a week prior to the start date.  For our day programs, we require 24-hour notice for cancellations.  Cancellation requests should be sent to us via email

Q:  Which class is best for my dog?
A:  Please see our course descriptions.  For puppies 18 weeks and under, you can start with our Puppy Kindergarten class.  If you dog is over 18 weeks of age, Basic class is the place to start.  We are happy to discuss the right programs for you and your dog, simply contact us via email.

Q: I just purchased a day program package, when do I bring my dog?
A: Once you purchase a package you still need to sign up for each session.  Please see the instructions for using your package credits.

Q: I don’t see the date I wanted for the day program sessions, how do I register?
A: If a date does not appear it means that session is FULL.  Please contact us via email to be placed on a waitlist for that session.

Q: How long is the package valid?
A: Day program package sessions are valid up to 6 months from the date of purchase.

Q:  My dog is not spayed/neutered; can they still attend classes / day programs?
A:  Yes, we allow un-altered dogs into our programs.  For female dogs in season, they may NOT attend our day programs until their cycle is completed.  Female dogs in season may attend group classes, but must wear pants.

Q: What do I need to bring to a group class?
A: You will receive a class confirmation prior to the start of class outlining what to bring.  For all classes you will need a signed waiver, vaccine records for your dog, high-value, soft treats cut into small pieces, a treat pouch or pocket to hold the treats.

Q: What is a high-value treat?
A:  A high-value treat is something your dog really likes.  It is easier to work with soft treats like you can cut into small pieces, like cheese or meat.  See the Dog Reward Pay Scale for more examples.

Q: Can I bring my child to participate in the group training class?
A: At this time we are only allowing 2 people per dog into our group training classes. Minors under 18 years of age have to be accompanied by an adult guardian/parent.  We recommend children under 6 years of age not attend classes.

Q:  I’m having issues with aggression and/or resource guarding; can my dog attend the Mind Your Manners program?
A:  No, behavioral issues such as aggression and resource guarding need to be addressed by booking private training session.

Q:  How do I book a private training session?
A:  Please complete our client information form and be sure to include your availability (daytime, evening, weekend) to assist with scheduling.  Email your request along with the form to us.

Q: What is the best way to get in touch with a staff member?
A: Please be aware that we do not have full time office staff and our staff is busy working with dogs during the day.  Therefore contacting us via email is the best way to reach us.
