Ava Menza

Ava Menza,
CPDT-KA

Instructor / Day Training

Ava’s journey with My Dog’s Got Class began as a student with her American Akita, Nymeria, in early 2020. What started as basic obedience classes quickly grew into a deep passion for dog training.

Ava began her professional training career in 2023, teaching group classes, private lessons, and AKC STAR Puppy and Canine Good Citizen programs. She earned her Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the CCPDT and is an AKC Evaluator. She regularly participates in continuing education through her studies in the CATCH Canine Trainers Academy Master Class, along with seminars, webinars, and books to stay current in dog behavior, training, and nutrition. She has also trained in dog sports including competition obedience, rally, agility, and tricks.

Ava implements positive reinforcement methods that build clear communication and confidence between dogs and their owners. She especially enjoys teaching foundational obedience skills and tricks to strengthen engagement, deepen the dog-owner bond, and create reliable skills for real-world situations.

Before transitioning into dog training professionally, Ava earned her B.S. in Geophysics and B.A. in Spanish from Virginia Tech. Her background in data analysis and scientific methodology continues to influence her training approach, bringing structure, observation, and thoughtful problem-solving to every dog-and-handler team she works with.
